Restorers of Works of Art
Select Teams for each Project
Depending on each project, ACI teams are made up of different specialists. For many years, Alix Laveau has been project manager for countless large scale and small individual restoration projects. This allows her to bring together the same colleagues and to welcome recent graduates.
Here is a brief introduction to the main partners:

Alix Laveau
Alix Laveau
A graduate of the Istituto Superiore Centrale per la Conservazione e il Restauro (ICR) in Rome since 2001 and accredited by the French Museums Directorate, with over 30 years of experience, she works for numerous museums, including the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Palace of Versailles, Bonnat-Helleu, Musée de la Marine, Musée de Dijon, and the Bibliothèque nationale de France, either at the French Museums’ workshops (C2RMF), on-site, or in her own studio. She also works with Historic Monuments authorities, particularly for the COARC (City of Paris), as well as regional and municipal authorities. Her private clientele includes collectors, galleries, and auction houses.
She specializes in paintings on all supports (canvas, wood, and copper), murals, and frescoes. She provides all types of treatment for artworks (fundamental restoration, restoration, and emergency interventions). She regularly assists project owners and managers, including chief architects Pierre Antoine Gatier, Michel Trubert, and Maëlle de Quelen.
Always leading the teams, she has surrounded herself with a wide range of expertise to meet all the demands of her profession (restorers, laboratory technicians, photographers, scaffolders, and transporters).
Owner of her workshop in Asnières-sur-Seine, she has established a large workspace with all the necessary logistics, facilitating collaboration with her colleagues.
Among her major ongoing projects are COARC (easel and mural painting), the Palace of Versailles, the Helleu-Bonnat Museum in Bayonne, and the Louvre.
Her major restoration projects include the dome of the Bourse de Commerce (Pinault Collection) in Paris, the Romanelli frescoes in the Galerie Mazarin at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), Mazarin’s bedroom by Dorigny, and the frescoes and stucco work in the Galerie Mansart (Michel Trubert, ACMH). For the Louvre, she restored the fresco depicting Juno amidst the clouds by Giambattista Tiepolo, circa 1735; the 19th-century decorations of the Queen’s Apartments; the large-format paintings in the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), Cabinet des médailles, including works by C. Van Loo, Boucher, Natoire, and a contemporary copy by Rigault from the King’s Workshops in the Louis XV Salon, Musée de la Marine; and the complete series of 13 Ports of France painted by Joseph Vernet.
Recently, she restored a set of wood sketches by P. Rubens, Ribera, El Greco, Ingres, Géricault, and Ghirlandaio for the Bayonne Museum, and for the Louvre, she began the restoration of a work by E. Murillo and G. Tiepolo.
She conducts studies, assists project managers, and oversees construction sites. She is called upon by her colleagues as an advisor for the implementation of restoration protocols, such as at the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence for the ceiling of the Salle des Éléments painted by Giorgio Vasari, or as an emergency responder by the C2RMF (Centre de Recherches et de Restauration des Musées de France) in the exceptional case of Notre Dame. She remains available on a voluntary basis for emergencies, for example, after the flooding at the Musée Girodet in Montargis.
She participates in numerous conferences and symposia on her conservation-restoration work (Carrousel du Louvre, Bibliothèque nationale de France), always accompanied by the museum curators and architects in charge of the projects. From these important projects, she co-authored articles on the subject for Techne magazine in collaboration with Dominique Martos-Levif and Antonio Iaccarino-Idelson, focusing on the Tiepolo fresco; for Monumenta magazine for the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF); and for the Revue de l’art with curator Isabelle Cahn of the Musée d’Orsay. She makes herself available to the communications departments of museums and institutions, working with both general-interest publications (Figaro Magazine) and more specialized media outlets, as well as television channels (Arte, TF1, France Télévisions, and radio stations).
She has participated in official meetings, including with President Emmanuel Macron, Ministers of Culture, Mrs. Macron, and, in the private sphere, Mr. Pinault and Mr. Aillagon.
